Happy new year, and thanks for being a supporter of the Save Our Bank campaign.

Will you join the Customer Union?

One of Save Our Bank’s top priorities for the new year is to move our Customer Union for Ethical Banking to a sustainable financial footing, so we can be effective in holding the Co-op Bank to account on its ethical promises and campaigning for cooperative ownership.

To help us achieve this, can we ask you to consider signing up to become a member of the Customer Union cooperative, for a membership fee of twelve pounds a year? (That’s just a pound a month.)

If we can double our membership, we will be able to cover our projected costs and have a small budget for research and campaigning. That means moving from 1200 members to at least 2400.

If everyone on this list joined - 10,000 Coop Bank customers, for just twelve pounds a year - we would have the capacity to expand, improve our web tools, market ourselves and get moving on most if not all of our priorities.

So, please make it one of your new year’s resolutions to give some serious thought to whether you can move from a supporter to a paid-up member of the Customer Union cooperative.

Vote on our priorities for 2018

Our first priority for 2018 is to grow our membership, so we have the budget to do more. Beyond this, our Gathering in Manchester in November generated a wealth of ideas for 2018, and we need your help and input on how to prioritise our plans. Please take our short survey on what we should prioritise in 2018 and how you can help. Follow this link for the survey:

We will close the survey at the end of January, so do take the opportunity to have your say before then.

With best wishes for the new year,

The Save Our Bank team
