The Customer Union for Ethical Banking is the independent union for customers of The Co-operative Bank.
The Co-operative Bank was acquired by Coventry Building Society in January 2025, bringing the bank once again into mutual ownership – a resoundingly positive development for the UK’s ethical and mutual banking sector, which meant our original goals have been achieved.
Now the Customer Union will work to help get the Co-operative Bank and Coventry Building Society:
- back out in front on ethics
- to engage fully in the co-operative sector
It costs just £15 a year to become a full member. The Customer Union is a cooperative itself, owned and democratically controlled by its members. You can learn more about the history of this unique organisation here.
